If you currently have an existing driveway it is unlikely you will require additional permission. If you plan on widening / enlarging your existing driveway it’s recommended that you contact your local authority before commissioning work to avoid disruption or ultimately your local council forcing the removal of your new driveway.
From 1st October 2008 new rules apply for householders wanting to pave over their front gardens. You will NOT need planning permission if a new driveway uses permeable (or porous) surfacing which allows water to drain through, such as a gravel driveway, permeable concrete block paving or porous asphalt, or if the rainwater is directed to a lawn or border to drain naturally.
Langshott Landscapes & Construction are registered and approved with both West Sussex County Council and Reigate & Banstead Council for excavation in the highway. This means that we are licensed to lower the pavement for vehicle access to your driveway (also known as kerb dropping); however, you will need to apply to your respective council for permission.
